Favorite Christmas Tradition

Sometimes we forget what Christmas is really about. I have to admit this year i have been worried about working, making money, paying bills, buying gifts, planning parties, going to parties, and all the stress that can hit you during the Christmas Season. I prayed for peace, and the ability to handle my stress and still be happy last night in my prayers, and today it dawned on me that i was not focusing on what Christmas is really all about! My family has a wonderful Christmas tradition, early Christmas morning my dad would wake us up and light a candle and hand it to us. we would all congregate in the living room with our candles and kneel as Dad would say a prayer. Then we would all take turns making a Christmas Promise to Christ (aka: a spiritual new years resolution) Then we would go upstairs and open our gifts one by one. This is my favorite Christmas tradition of all of the fun things we do together as a family at Christmas time. I think it's the best way to start Christmas morning. I am going to change my focus and think of a good Christmas Promise that i can make to my Savior this year! something i will actually follow through with. I'm excited to celebrate Christmas now, with my changed focus, attitude and perspective! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

  1. Thanks for sharing your family tradition and reminding us what Christmas is really about. I think we ALL get caught up in gifts, parties and everything except the true meaning of Christmas.

  2. That's so nice! What a great idea! I feel like we need about a thousand of these reminders every Christmas season, because we all know what Christmas is about but somehow we, or at least I... always get caught up in the commercial end of it.
